Walking the Huntington Beach Pier: A Step-by-Step Journey

Huntington Beach Pier, also known as the “Surf City Pier,” is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. Located in beautiful Orange County, CA, this iconic landmark offers stunning views of the Pacific and a unique experience for those who walk its length. But how long is it, exactly? I set out to find the answer by counting my steps. Why exactly? Who knows… just because I suppose.

After starting at the base of the pier, adjacent to Dukes, I counted every step until I reached the end. What was the number of steps you ask? Well, it was a whopping 754! This means that the Huntington Beach Pier is approximately 0.37 miles long (according to my steps), making it one of the longest piers in California. In doing my research, I gathered the pier is roughly 1850 ft long, which is 0.35 miles and really close to what I counted.

The Huntington Beach Pier was built in 1904 and has undergone several renovations over the years. Today, it features a wide variety of amenities, including restaurants, shops, and fishing spots. It was also previously home to Ruby’s Diner, which is now Bud & Gene’s. “Inspired by Bud & Gene’s love for the ocean and the community of Huntington Beach, the restaurant serves casual, family-friendly fare by Chef Jason Witzl, prepared with local, seasonal, and sustainable ingredients – with an emphasis on the freshest, responsibly-sourced seafood from local SoCal waters.”

For those who love to fish, the Huntington Beach Pier offers a unique experience. With its long length and surrounding waters, it’s a prime spot for fishing enthusiasts to try their luck. In fact, it is not uncommon to see anglers lined up along the railings, patiently waiting for a catch.

In addition to fishing, the Huntington Beach Pier provides a beautiful and peaceful escape from the bustling city, offering stunning views of the ocean, sunsets, and wildlife. Whether you are looking to take a leisurely walk, capture the perfect photo, or simply enjoy the salty air, the Huntington Beach Pier has something for everyone.

In conclusion, my journey to measure the length of the Huntington Beach Pier, although just for fun, was truly an enjoyable escape. With a total of 754 steps, and approximately 0.37 miles long, the HB pier offers a unique and enjoyable experience for everyone who visits. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, I highly recommend taking a walk down this iconic landmark and discovering all it has to offer.
