Assistance League of Huntington Beach: Our Preferred Charity
Let’s take a look behind the scenes of the Assistance League of Huntington Beach, the best Huntington Beach charity. The Assistance League of Huntington Beach is a non-profit organization comprised of 120 chapters nationally with each chapter focused on the needs and challenges of their community. Funds serve local needs, and services are locally designed, organized and carried out to fit these needs.
In today’s video, Scott interviews Chrys Vollmer, President of AL Huntington Beach, where Scott serves on the Advisory Committee. Chrys touches on the primary fundraisers of the HB chapter, the biggest one being Operation School Bell – a program that dresses over 3,000 kids throughout the year at Target. The goal is to build self-worth and self-esteem in today’s youth. Their other big fundraiser is Treasures by the Sea, a thrift shopping extravaganza where customers can choose from the best of the best. Between the proceeds from these fundraisers, outside grants and thrift shop sales, the Assistance League gave back over $1 million to the communities of Westminster, Fountain Valley, and Huntington Beach last year.
Also in this video, Lane has the opportunity to interview Pat De Rush, the store manager of the Huntington Beach location for the last 5 years. She stresses the need for more volunteers and donations. To donate, they request higher quality donations which the volunteers will sift through pulling out what works for their purposes and donating the rest to other community organizations.
The Assistance League Huntington Beach also helps fund scholarships for returning veterans to enter the police academy as well as attend Goldenwest College. The organization assisted over 7,000 families in the community last year and looks forward to helping many more for years to come.
