Last Saturday, our community came together to celebrate a milestone – the 10th Anniversary of our Green and Clean Shred & More event. This eco-friendly extravaganza not only brought our neighbors together but also made a significant positive impact on the environment and our local organizations.
With over 12,000 pounds of paper and e-waste collected and diverted from landfills, the event was a shining example of how collective efforts can create change. The community’s generosity didn’t stop there; clothing, household items, food, and cash donations were collected, filling the Community Food Pantry and SUVs of the Huntington Beach Assistance League to the brim.
The four-hour event was a breeze for guests, who praised the efficiency of the process. Two shredding trucks, multiple lanes, and a team of friendly volunteers ensured that everyone’s contributions were swiftly and securely taken care of. Speaking of volunteers, they were the lifeblood of the event – their enthusiasm and dedication, proudly displayed in their signature 10th-anniversary T-shirts, were contagious and contributed to the overall success.
A special thank you goes to the many volunteers, most of whom are members of the Community United Methodist Church of Huntington Beach (CUMCHB.org). Their ongoing partnership has been invaluable, generously allowing us to take over their parking lot each year to host this meaningful event.
As proud members of the Surf City community, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve our fellow citizens and look forward to continuing our efforts to make a difference – both environmentally and socially. Here’s to another ten years (and more) of the Green and Clean Shred & More event, and to fostering a sense of unity and purpose in our community!
