A note from Lane

I grew up in Huntington Beach. I went to school here. I bought my first house three blocks from where my parents bought theirs. The streets you’re asking me about are the streets I learned to ride a bike on.

What that means in practice: when you tell me you’re looking at a property in Goldenwest Estates or you’re thinking about selling your home in Sunset Beach, I’m not Googling the area. I’m telling you which side of the street gets the afternoon light, which schools have changed boundaries, and which streets flood in a hard winter.

About Lane

The Huntington Beach native who runs the modern operation.

Lane Stone joined the Sackin-Stone Team in 2009. He became the team’s Principal Broker Associate in 2018, and today he runs the operation alongside founders Scott Sackin and Philip Talbert.

He was born and raised in Huntington Beach. He attended Marina High School, then Cal State Long Beach. He bought his first house at 26, in a neighborhood his parents had bought their first house in three decades earlier. He’s now sold homes to people he went to elementary school with, and to their kids.

His specialty is the intersection of two client types that most agents treat as separate categories: longtime HB families navigating a major life transition (right-sizing, estate sale, generational handoff), and out-of-area buyers trying to understand what they’re actually buying when they buy a coastal OC home. The common thread is that both groups need a guide more than they need a salesperson. Lane runs that way by default.

Lane is Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE), Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES), and Probate & Trust certified. He’s been the team’s lead on more than 400 transactions since 2009, with an average days-on-market well below the HB area benchmark.

He still lives in Huntington Beach with his family.

Right-sizing and generational moves

Working with HB and coastal OC families who are downsizing, relocating to be near children or grandchildren, or transferring property between generations. SRES-certified, with deep familiarity in Prop 19 tax-basis transfer mechanics and the timing decisions that affect them.

Probate and trust sales

Sales handled with the patience these situations require. Lane works directly with estate attorneys, executors, and trustees to coordinate the sale around the probate or trust timeline rather than around the market.

Out-of-area buyers and sellers

Clients buying or selling in coastal OC who don't live in coastal OC. Lane has closed deals where the seller was in Boise, the inspection happened over FaceTime, and the keys were handed off through a property manager. The model works because the bench works.

Coastal HB neighborhoods

Sunset Beach, Huntington Harbour, Downtown HB, Goldenwest Estates, and the surrounding Newport Heights and Westcliff submarkets. Lane has personally closed transactions on most named streets in those neighborhoods.
